I am not a very big baseball fan. But when I get the email announcing media day.... Yeah...
Media day for the baseball team was not the media circus that I was
expecting. I was the only photographer there. Even still I did not want
to take long. This was my fav out of 4 frames.
Strobist info:
Main light was 2 sb-800s in a umbrella, another sb-800 for a side light, for some texture and mood.
I am not an abstract photographer. I admire those people that can see art in buildings, but only to an extent, you getting to artsy on me and start writting artist statments and you will have lost my interest. Still, I was reshooting a series with a friend and was able to get a little art myself... C&C welcome
Let me start by saying that I am not a snowboarder. I used the board because at the time, that was all we had with us. I got the idea in my head to clamp the camera to the end of the board and slide down a small hill. I did a few trial runs without the camera everything was working. so I mounted the 10.5 on the camera, locked in, and slid off.... now for some strange reason, snowboards are smooth. (I have no idea why :) ).... but the clamp and the camera started to slide, and it turned my camera into a snow plow.. I was not very happy about that. I would have liked a little more motion blur, but I was happy none the less... Next time I will do it right and use some skis....
I had heard these guys before, but never really had a good chance to photograph them till they were playing at All City Live at the GSR... the band was great, I wish more people would have come out to see them... But the small crowd made it easy to move around...
Strobist Info: My favorite combo for club shooting, on camera strobe on TTL for fill. always ajusting the compinsation, and attached to that is a PW setting off another strobe stage lefft up on the Dj booth... looking at the shots I picked most all were taken with no on camera fill
I love the cold weather, however it has a tendency to hinder some fashion shoots... I called the shoot early, cause of the ridiculously cold weather.. She was a trooper for hanging there regardless of the cold.... here is the first of the set... more to come....
The other day, at the club I shoot for, Nick Canon was paid to be there showed up.... I shot a few pics while he was on the turn tables... nothing to crazy cool, he was bouncing all over the place, and the DJ booth was dark and extremely hard to focus in... but anyway good time, the place was packed....
A good friend of mine called me the other day, She asked if I wanted to take some promo shots for a band. I said sure, she said it started in three hours. Great, good thing it was my day off.... Anyway I was told that there were several other photographers coming already, which let me to assume that, they were going to be playing, and all the photographers could shoot..... I was wrong.... I was a little late, due to the lack of notice, but when I got there I was meet by three other photographers.. already set up with some very weak florescent constant lights, and the plan was to shoot the band posed and not playing.... Great it everyone else was using those lights, then lets introduce some strobes.
Overall.... way to many photogs in the kitchen....
So Its time to clamp a the camera to the car again.. Nick and I were working on a self portrait. While we were at it I figured to shoot an add against drunk driving. The camera was clamped to the front of the car, with a usb cable and PW attached. we adjusted the exposure as we drove. We drove back and forth down the main drag though town tring to look drunk, I need to work on making text for the add, but here are two of my picks so far....
For the recored the bottle was filled with apple juice.. and we also picked a night where ever other car on the road was a cop...
For a photographer that has almost no political views, I sure get to photograph a lot of Political candidates.
There were way to many people in such a small room. it was hard to move around.. and since it was not a speech, more of a rally. I figured no one would object to a little strobist action.. however the only spot I could find that was out of the was, slightly behind the speaker. but I liked what I got. (nothing like some off camera strobe to set you apart.)
